Timothy Ratliff, American History Teacher I have a discussion board in my American History 2 classes where students read an article comparing and contrasting Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. Du Bois. The article focuses on their competing strategies on how to deal with the racist Jim Crow laws and segregation in the South as well as De Facto segregation in the North. Students then have to write a post arguing which strategy African American leaders of today should use in tackling issues such as income inequality, police shootings, etc. and then read another student's post and comment on it.
