Kiara Cannon sat down with Coach Davis, the cheerleading coach, and asked her about how this cheer season is going, and what she thinks is important and some of the challenges. Coach Davis said that she thinks the team is off to a good start but it feels a little rushed. The first competition is 2 weeks away at the Wayne County fair on October the 5th. Other than feeling rushed, she says that the season is going to be amazing. Mrs. Davis says that she thinks "competition are important to defend the state that cheerleading is a sport because most people think that it isn't a sport", she states that "competitions showcase what the sports is about." Coach Davis says that "there are many challenges, but their main challenge is time she feels like they are in a time crunch, so far this year it is smooth sailing minus the lost of one member and the gain of another."

Reporters Ahsha Keys and Abby Pate caught up with Mr. Kovac’s. Who’s the Assistant Soccer Coach at SHS this year? To talk about his First coaching experience and how the team is performing so far this year.
According to Mr. Kovac’s he has coached youth league lacrosse before, so this isn’t his first time being a coach but being a coach for soccer is new to him. Kovac’s also mentioned that he did play in high school, but his favorite sport has always been and probably will be his favorite for the longest is lacrosse. Kovac's and Coach Petty have talked about starting a lacrosse team in spring sense it's a spring sport and soccer is a fall sport. He Is going to see if he can start it off as a club and move on from there. We asked him if he ever thought about being head coach and he has mentioned that he has thought about it just that it. Kovac's is also the FFA Advisor here at SHS and a teacher, so the majority of his time goes into FFA. So it would be a difficult time to manage but could be done, this is why he choose to be Assistant Coach. The Soccer team this year, he believes is going to be great. The team has great Chemistry with each other and show a lot of team effort. But there is a weakness folks, according to Kovac's some like to hold the ball longer than they should. Which is "hog balling", a fancy term right? They have gotten better about it over the past few weeks. Our Coach has goals in mind! Kovac's also wanted to give back more just not as a teacher but also a mentor to students. He says " It gives me a feeling of satisfaction of knowing that I'm not only making a difference in the classroom but also on a playing field to." Authors Ahsha Keys - Junior Abby Pate - Freshman It was a good day for our varsity volleyball team last Tuesday, they won against Beargrass (23-20), but unfortunately the junior varsity didn't do as good (14-21). They worked as a team and their coaches were very supportive even when they didn't hit a good serve, they tried their best and that's what matters the most. During the junior varsity game they were doing great until they got a little unfocused, but our soccer team still cheered them on. After their practice they decided to stay and watch the game to support our girls. We can't forget about the parents, they were very supportive, they yelled and screamed for their daughters to win. The game was very fun and intense, there were a lot of strikes and some insults coming from each team, but at the end of the day they were all supportive. Maybe next time our Seahawks will win.
